The CSP team has just published an article in Angewandte Chemie (Wiley) unveiling a new concept that enables the blinking of fluorescent probes for super-resolution imaging of the plasma membrane.

In this work, the CSP group established a new photoswitching concept called the self-triggered photooxidation cascade (STPC). Rhodamine dyes exhibit mild photosensitizing properties that enable the subsequent photoactivation and photobleaching of a leuco-rhodamine plasma membrane probe. Upon laser irradiation in the visible range, we successfully performed live-cell SMLM (Single-Molecule Localization Microscopy), allowing imaging of the plasma membrane and its dynamics at the nanoscale.
