The Chemistry of Photoresponsive Systems team has just published an article in Soft Matter (RSC) dedicated to the study of nano-emulsion viscosity.
This study presents a lipophilic molecular rotor derived from BODIPY to measure viscosity inside nano-emulsions through variations in fluorescence intensity and lifetime. After validation in an oil phase, the fluorescent probe was used in nano-emulsions, revealing the influence of droplet size and composition on the viscosity of their oily core. This tool enables fine characterization of complex colloids and hybrid materials.
