The Chemistry of Photoresponsive Systems team has just published an article in Advanced Optical Materials (Wiley) focused on photoactivatable and photoconvertible fluorescent probes based on Perylene Bisimide.
We conducted an in-depth characterization of the phototransformation of furan- and pyrrole-coupled Perylene Bis Imide (PBI) fluorophores, revealing their remarkable photoconvertible and photoactivation properties. Our findings indicate that rapid photocyclization occurred, enabling the creation of novel photoconvertible bionanomaterials. These advanced materials were successfully employed for bioimaging intracellular vesicles, showcasing their potential for innovative applications in cellular imaging.
